About the Project

SMILE – Support Young Migrants Integration in the Labour Market in Europe is a European cooperation project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. It brings together seven organizations from Türkiye, Germany, Italy, Greece, and the Netherlands to address one of Europe’s most urgent challenges: the social and economic integration of young migrants.

In an era marked by increasing migration flows and rapidly evolving labour markets, young migrants often face systemic barriers to employment. These barriers include language difficulties, non-recognition of qualifications, and limited social networks. SMILE responds to these challenges with a targeted, inclusive, and skills-based approach.

Our Mission

SMILE aims to enhance the employability of young migrants aged 18–30 by focusing on soft skills development – such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, and digital literacy – which are essential for success in today’s workforce. In doing so, the project also supports social inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunities across Europe.

Key Features of the Project

Personalized learning paths through mentoring and coaching for young migrants
A dedicated soft skills curriculum and training tools co-created with experts and stakeholders
Collaboration with employers and policymakers to ensure training matches market needs
Capacity building for youth workers and educators for long-term sustainability
A strong emphasis on digital innovation, environmental responsibility, and inclusiveness

Why SMILE?

To unlock the untapped potential of young migrants
To build more inclusive and cohesive European societies
To reduce dependency and increase economic contribution through employment
To foster international cooperation and build sustainable capacity in youth-focused organizations

Our Target Group

The SMILE project primarily targets young migrants aged 18 to 30, including refugees, asylum seekers, and individuals seeking improved economic opportunities across Europe. It also actively involves employers, educators, youth workers, and policymakers to create an inclusive and responsive ecosystem for labour market integration. Special attention is given to those facing additional barriers such as language gaps, social isolation, and limited access to recognition of prior learning.
